Democrats postpone action on war bill.......

Worried by their prospects in the House, Democrats postponed final action on a nearly $100 billion wartime spending bill until next week so as to buy more time for talks among lawmakers and the return of President Barack Obama from overseas.The administration remains confident it can navigate between the conflicting pressures from the right and left. Former Vice President Dick Cheney says that former President George W. Bush did not want to be the one who “pulled the plug” on General Motors and instead decided to pass on the issue to President Barack Obama. “I thought that, eventually, the right outcome was going to be bankruptcy,” Cheney said of the company during the second part of interview with Fox News’ Greta Van Susteren that aired Tuesday night...Link

A former Bush administration official nominated by President Barack Obama to serve at DHS was linked to the CIA’s torture program, a source tells the Associated Press. An AP article claims that a congressional aide “who spoke on condition of anonymity,” and wasn’t “authorized to discuss the matter publicly,” has “confirmed that [Philip] Mudd, who was deputy director of the Office of Terrorism Analysis at the CIA during the Bush administration, had direct knowledge of the agency’s harsh interrogation program.”...Link
