Primafuel, Converting Algae to Green Gasoline.
Many of us encounter algae only when the slimy stuff turns our swimming pools green in the summer. But there are hundreds of thousands of species of algae, and some of them are incredibly useful. Gasoline made from algae, anyone? "Algae can be used to make food, to produce pharmaceuticals, to combat disease and to create plastics," says Rahul Iyer, a founder of the California-based Primafuel company. GOP leaders doubt stimulus bill will pass Senate
WASHINGTON (AP) — Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell said Sunday the massive stimulus bill backed by President Barack Obama and congressional Democrats could go down to defeat if it's not stripped of unnecessary spending and focused more on housing issues and tax cuts. The Senate version of the bill, which topped out at nearly $900 billion, is headed to the floor for debate. The House bill totaled about $819 billion and earned no Republican votes, even though it easily passed the Democratic-controlled House. Israel strikes Gaza after militant rocket fire...
JERUSALEM – Israel threatened "harsh and disproportionate" retaliation after Gaza militants fired at least 10 rockets and mortar shells across the border Sunday and warplanes later bombed the area where Hamas smuggles in weapons from Egypt through tunnels. The flare-up raised the risk of growing violence in the days leading up to Israel's parliamentary elections on Feb. 10. Since an unwritten truce ended Israel's offensive in Gaza two weeks ago, rocket and mortar fire from the Palestinian territory ruled by Hamas has increased steadily. Israeli retaliation, including brief ground incursions and bombings of rocket launchers and smuggling tunnels, is also intensifying....Link
