
Hours after learning that tax-tainted Tom Daschle withdrew his cabinet nomination, President Obama began a media blitz to control the damage to his young administration. "This was a mistake...I screwed up," he told CNN's Andersoon Cooper in one of five interviews to air Monday evening. But despite Daschle's troubles -- the former senator was found to owe $100,000 in back taxes, after being nominated to head the health and human services department -- the president said he does not regret nominating him.
