New world reserve currency a decade away...
Moscow’s finance minister says China’s Yuan the ’shortest path’ to new world reserve; predicts ‘new major currency unions’ not soon to emerge. Developed nations are dragging their feet over reforms of the International Monetary Fund, where Moscow wants to have a greater say, Russian Finance Minister Alexei Kudrin said on Saturday. “We already see a lot of foot-dragging and tripping-up along this path,” said Kudrin during Russia’s premier economic forum in Saint Petersburg. “There is a need to make the IMF a true representative of the world’s leading economies. It’s not there right now,” he said, noting that China had a lower representation quota than Switzerland or Belgium...Link

"Get Out of the Way!"................
The future of space could soon belong to private companies—the soon-to-be retired space shuttle is being replaced by private launchers, space tourists are snapping pictures from the International Space Station, global positioning systems are ubiquitous, and entrepreneurs are building suborbital craft destined for use by paying customers. But the mood at the Space Business Forum, an annual gathering of investors and space geeks held in New York City, was impatience to get the feds out of the way so the private sector can attract investments and grow quicker. "I'd say the role of government [in the space industry] is too high," says Heidi Wood, the senior equity analyst for aerospace for Morgan Stanley. "There are far too many hands on it."...Link
