U.S. Postal Service = failure.

Since the late 19th century, the unofficial slogan of the U.S. Postal Service (it doesn't have an official one) has been guaranteed delivery through rain, sleet, or snow. Nowhere mentioned in that motto is a crippling economy or revenue and budget shortfalls. The government-subsidized service faces a nearly $7 billion net loss by year's end, landing it on the government list of federal programs at “high risk” of collapse, right up there with Medicare and the 2010 census. President Obama even piled on, remarking this summer that America's postal agency looked pretty dismal compared with private competitors like FedEx and UPS...Link

Hard-Core Free-Marketeer.........

Peter Schiff's day job is running Euro Pacific Capital, a Connecticut-based investment fund. But he's better known as the guy who called the housing collapse and recession back in 2006. Schiff, a hard-core free-marketeer and an adviser to Rep. Ron Paul (R-Tex.) during his 2008 presidential run, now moonlights as a cable news analyst and has become a YouTube fixture, thanks to the "Peter Schiff Was Right" mashups of his predictions. His latest job: seeking the Republican nomination to run against Sen. Chris Dodd (D-Conn.), chairman of the banking committee. Washington Post business reporter Frank Ahrens spoke with Schiff about abolishing the Fed, why housing prices must fall further and how many millions he'd spend to win a Senate seat...Link

Daily watch: Ron Paul...........

Tuesday’s Daily Show interview featured Texas congressman Ron Paul. After introducing Paul and mentioning his new book, End the Fed, Stewart joked, “You seem to have put a lot of thought and effort into this book; and you call yourself a congressman.” Paul is a small-government Republican with libertarian leanings, who advocates personal rights and freedoms. In his book, he argues for the end of The United States Federal Reserve Bank, contending that it’s corrupt, outdated and, most importantly, unconstitutional. The Fed, he asserts, helps government pay its bills by simply printing money when needed, which, ultimately, is extremely damaging to the economy. Such irresponsible production of currency, in the long term, serves to raise inflation, increase government size, and steadily decrease currency’s value over time. The Fed, Paul states, monetizes debt; when presented with a bill, they simply print the money needed to pay it...Link

War, war, war, war..........

Two senior Republican senators say the United States, and not Israel, should attack Iran if military action becomes "necessary." They also say a simple strike at the country's nuclear capability wouldn't be enough -- the US would have to launch an "all-or-nothing" war against Iran with the aim of crippling the country's military capabilities. "I think an Israeli attack on Iran is a nightmare for the world, because it will rally the Arab world around Iran and they're not aligned now. It's too much pressure to put on Israel," Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) told Fox News' Chris Wallace...Link
